Have a look at these fantastic tongue-in-cheek illustrations by Portland artist Ryan Berkley. Each of his prints features a whimsical play on nature with an urban twist. This particular series features portraits of different wildlife in their work environments–totally amazing! I’m in love!
Mr Squirrel
About this squirrel: Tragically this squirrel has a vicious peanut allergy. Luckily he lives in an area that has an abundance of berries.
Mrs Squirrel
About this squirrel: Betty the squirrel is still occasionally recognized on the street from her days as a folk musician. She is still playing music but now her main audience are her five grandchildren. She loves writing a new song for each one on their birthday.
Powerful Owl
About this owl: Give a hoot for our Powerful Owl friend! Yes, that’s his real name (scientific name Ninox strenua). He wears his power suit and tie just to reaffirm his stature. He also cares greatly for the forest and encourages everyone, not just owls, to stop polluting.
Raccoon
About this raccoon: This raccoon spends his days in a science lab experimenting with ways to convert garbage into an alternative fuel source. Occasionally he will indulge in a snack from his test pile.
I’m also loving the amazing work of Shannon McLaughlin. Her pieces are highly detailed featuring animals in nature mixed with the unexpected splash of vibrant color! Because each print is from an original painting on a slice of a tree trunk, it has a very unique look that’s just awesome. Great detail and extremely cute!
Great detail…
